Features

During a session, users are able to enjoy the following features:

Change Presenters

Each participant can also become presenter and show their computer screen to all the other participants. The presenter can be changed with just one mouse click.

Secure Remote Control

The users can grant remote control rights to each other. Upon passing on the presentation right to one of the participants the session organizer can also actively request remote control from this user. The user always has to confirm the remote control request and can regain control at any time with the help of the shortcut keys Ctrl+F12 (for Windows and Linux) or Ctrl+ESC (for Macs).

Initial Viewing Direction and Remote Control Settings

This is an ideal feature for remote support session organizers. With it, you can start a session, invite a participant, and have the participant instantly become the presenter and show their screen to you. You can even obtain initial remote control of your participant’s keyboard & mouse. Of course explicit consent is required by the participant for security.

Remote Shortcuts

In a support case, when you control the computer of a participant, you can now send shortcuts to the remote computer via a couple of buttons in the BeamYourScreen interface. The shortcuts include Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Alt+Esc, Win+E. This way you can ensure that the shortcuts are executed on the remote computer and not locally on your computer.

HTML Viewer

With our award winning HTML Viewer, we offer participants an alternative way to login that allows them to participate in an online session even without downloading any software. While the presenter can show any screen content in real time and hence is not restricted to showing PowerPoint™ slides only, the HTML Viewer was tailored for presentation purposes and as a result does not provide all features that the default login does.

Session Scheduler

Plan multiple sessions ahead of time and keep track of them within the scheduler. Each session receives a unique ID and can be used repeatedly on future occasions. You can also store several session IDs in your scheduler and use them at any time you wish. Session details can be quickly sent to the invited participants.

Recording and Playback

Using the recording feature, you can make a video of your BeamYourScreen sessions for documentation purposes or for reviewing them at later stages. Our BeamYourScreen session player can be used to play back the recordings, which are recorded and saved in a proprietary format. As part of our service, we supply the BeamYourScreen session player which is available as a free download:

Chat

The Chat feature enables you to send messages to all or selected participants. The names of the participants appear in the assigned color to make identifying easier.
It is also possible for the organizer to disable group chat, this way the participants cannot chat with each other but rather with the organizer only.

Profile Manager

This feature enables you to set a variety of different profiles. Profiles are a completely new BeamYourScreen area and allow you to create and save different profiles for when you start sessions, such as tailoring the included rights and features to fit different use cases.
When selecting what you want in your customized profiles, you will be able to enable or disable certain features, set the quality of the transmission, standard applications to be hidden (such as Desktop, Task Bar, etc) and you can set the initial viewing direction. This will give you the possibility to customize BeamYourScreen for all of your use cases and prepare your own optimal BeamYourScreen version.

File/Clipboard Transfer

Using the file transfer feature it is possible to send files to one or more participants. As a result, all session participants are always in possession of the most recent file version. Upon granting remote control to a given participant, this participant can copy and paste text from one computer to the other using the clipboard transfer feature.

Application Selection

Rather than sharing all applications open on your desktop, you are able to select the specific applications that you require for sharing while hiding others, and hence protect your privacy. This feature applies to all your desktop contents as well as the taskbar.

Participants who neither show their screen nor have remote control of the presenter’s computer can click anywhere on their viewer window and a pointer will appear on the presenter screen for several seconds. Using the pointer participants can highlight issues that require further clarification.
